03 — The artist
Sergei Troshin
A self-taught painter based in Thornhill, Ontario, who came to art after years in German studies and linguistics. His surfaces are built and rebuilt until they read like aged walls and fragments of wallpaper — things shaped by time rather than painted onto a canvas.
Because the texture is physical, the work changes with the light in your room: a piece that is quiet at midday can look completely different under an evening lamp.

View the work in person in Toronto by appointment, or ask for extra photographs in daylight. Texture never photographs the way it looks in a room.

Collect in person or have it packed and shipped. Every artwork comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, signed and sealed by the artist.

Are the artworks originals or prints?
Every piece on this site is an original, one-of-a-kind artwork by Sergei Troshin. We do not sell prints or reproductions, and each work ships with a Certificate of Authenticity signed and sealed by the artist.
How do I buy a painting?
Prices are shared on request. Send a message through the contact page or call +1 (416) 919-8331 and we will confirm availability, price and how the piece can be delivered or collected in Toronto.
Can I see a work in person before buying?
Yes. Viewings in Toronto are arranged by appointment, so you can see the surface, texture and scale of a piece in daylight before you decide. Texture matters a great deal in this work — photographs only tell part of the story.
Do you ship outside Toronto?
Yes. Works are packed individually and shipped across Canada and internationally. Shipping is quoted per piece, because size, weight and framing differ for every artwork.
Does the artist take commissions?
Yes. If a piece is already sold, or you need a particular size or palette for your space, Sergei Troshin accepts commissions — get in touch and describe what you have in mind.
What does “Sold” or “Private Collection” mean on a piece?
It means that artwork already belongs to a collector. Sold works stay on the site as an archive of the artist’s output — and related pieces, or a commission in the same spirit, are usually possible.
